Day 30... Tuesday, and losing it!

Morning Weigh-In: 246 lbs
Total Loss: 6 lbs
Change From Yesterday: -2 lbs

Back to the two pound a day weight loss.

Now lets see if we can continue it throughout the week. My defined target is 30 pounds lost. Time to get ahead of this and keep my discipline in along with some pre-defined workouts.

Lets see if we can turn a 2 lb weight loss into a 3 or 4 lb loss.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
One Hard Boiled Egg.

Lunch:
Baked Teriyaki Chicken and Black Beans

Dinner:
London Broil, Steamed Artichoke, and Pineapple Chicken Sausage.

Dessert:
A few jelly beans and a slice of incredible, spent wheat bread spread with butter.

Day 29... Cheat Day in the Rear-View

Morning Weigh-In: 248 lbs
Total Loss: 4 lbs
Change From Yesterday: +4 lbs

Cheat day was yesterday. Cheat day was a good day. Cheat day is now a memory.

Today was back to the ol' grindstone. Working out different, creative ways to continue the ways of The 4-Hour Body.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Not so creative... One Hard Boiled Egg.

Lunch:
Baked Rosemary Chicken and Black Beans

Dinner:
Baked Teriyaki Chicken mixed with homemade Cucumber KimChi and Trader Joes Broccoli Slaw. Amazingly good!

Dessert:
Nana's Rum Cake (yeah, I wasn't supposed to, but it just happened to leap onto my plate, and, well, I couldn't let it go to waste, right?)

Day 28... An Official Cheat Day... Time to Indulge... Guilt Free

Morning Weigh-In: 244 lbs
Total Loss: 8 lbs
Change From Yesterday: +2 lbs

Saturday was a good day by many measurements -- Bro Day and all that.

By The 4-Hour Body standards... it wasn't.

Lots of beer + tortilla chips + creamy cheesy dip + gourmet sweets = 2 pound gain.

But today is the Official Cheat Day... HA!

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Trader Joes Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal

Lunch:
Dairy Queen Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries and a Caramel Shake.

Dinner:
Raley's Hot Wok, Chicken Chow Mein, Peking Ribs, Generals Chicken and Brandy Fried Chicken Leg

Dessert:
Too many to count of the Quality Street Cookie Knock-Off's from Cost-Plus.

Day 27... Bro Day, Beer Day, No Slow Carb Day

Morning Weigh-In: 242 lbs
Total Loss: 10 lbs
Change From Yesterday: 0 lbs

Yesterday's indulgences kept me at 242. Another day of no loss, but no gain.

Today, however, will be interestingly different.

Not about a few cheats, no. Today is Bro Day. Hanging out with some of my brothers in beer as we brew a few batches for an upcoming 40th Birthday Toga-themed party.

Of course, along with brewing beer, we had to drink beer, eat brauts boiled in Sam Adams, lots of good sweets, some bourbon and cigars. EDIT: Forgot to mention the butt-load of tortilla chips and jalapeno cheese dip we ate as well.

See how that affects tomorrow.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Scrambled eggs with zucchini, chicken, Trader Joe's broccoli slaw, and green onions.

Lunch:
Beer Brauts, fried sauerkraut, and beer.

Dinner:
Chicken grilled in Tamari, bowl of Trader Joes Miso, and some home-made spicy cucumber KimChi.

Day 26... The End of the Experiment: No More Non-Cheat Day Cheats

Morning Weigh-In: 242 lbs
Total Loss: 10 lbs
Change From Yesterday: 0 lbs

Okay... so there is a limit to how much "cheating" I can do. No weight gained, but none lost either.

Admittedly I did over indulge in cheats last night. I mean,TWO cinnamon bread slices AND a cookie, AND Cafe Mocha AND Egg Nog. Like, what the heck was I thinkin!?! That's just the experiment talking.

The 4-Hour Body of course, is more then dieting. And Ferriss' recommendation for the Slow Carb Diet includes some exercise. My plan now is to start that part of the program this weekend while continuing to experiment with what I can or can't eat to lose those 7 pounds a day.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
One cup of steamed lentils.

Lunch:
Really bad today... It was Pizza Friday, and I was "all in" --- we did the Round Table Buffet, where I started with a big salad of Romaine, Carrots, Cucumbers, Black Olives, Bacon Bits, Cheese, with Ranch and Italian dressings (yes, whenever I eat at a Salad Bar I mix the Ranch and Italian dressings, just a habit, but a tasty one). Then I moved over to the favorite part, the Pizza bar... and indulged in several styles, including Hawaiin, Pepperoni and Sausage, and a few others.

But I did avoid drinking a soda. ;-)

Dinner:
Louisa, my lovely wife, baked some yummy Chicken for me and steamed a couple large artichokes. Add a salad and we had an incredible meal. But yes, I had to put mayo on my Artichoke, very white of me.

Dessert:
Two slices of Cinnamon Bread and a Cafe Mocha along with some Egg Nog.

Side note. Tummy not feeling too well. This is definitely the end of the Non-Cheat Day Cheating.

Day 25... Does Cheating Really Work... the Experiment Continues

Morning Weigh-In: 242 lbs
Total Loss: 10 lbs
Change From Yesterday: -2 lbs

YES! Two more pounds lost!

So, a little cheating can work.

Hmmmm... this got me thinking, since The 4-Hour Body is not only about improving your health and your life, but as Tim Ferriss puts it, it is also about doing your own experiments to discover what works for you.

So I will continue this "experiment" and see how much cheating I can actually do...

The Meals...

Breakfast:
One cup of steamed lentils.

Lunch:
2 BBQ Chicken legs, steamed broccoli, hard boiled egg, whole avocado.

Dinner:
Trader Joe's Vegetarian Chili (has some wheat in it) with a cup of Black Beans added and sliced tri-tip.

Violations of the Slow Carb Diet also included a dollop of Greek Yogurt and a couple pieces of Pepperjack cheese in the chili.

Dessert:
Two slices of Cinnamon Bread a cookie and a Cafe Mocha along with some Egg Nog.

Day 24... A Little Cheat Won't Matter, Right?

Morning Weigh-In: 244 lbs
Total Loss: 8 lbs
Change From Yesterday: -2 lbs

Still continuing to lose 2 lbs a day on The Slow Carb Diet from The 4-Hour Body.

Even with a little cheating. Last night with a Cafe Mocha and cookie.

And hey, if it worked yesterday. Why not today?

That's the problem with Eating Adventures... when you find another path, you are most likely to take it, even not knowing what the results may entail. Half the adventure is in the discovery.

What if I take another snack? What if I have a little mocha?

Well tomorrow morning will tell.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
One hard-boiled egg.

Lunch:
2 BBQ Chicken legs, steamed broccoli, hard boiled egg.

Dinner:
Two fried eggs, and a bit of tri-tip. Along with some awesome Peppadews and KimChi.

Dessert:
Cookie and a Cafe Mocha. Again.

Day 23... So what do to when I get mad and say screw it!

Morning Weigh-In: 246 lbs
Total Loss: 6 lbs
Change From Yesterday: -2 lbs

Finally losing weight again... W00T!

Yesterday more disciplined day resulted in a 2 lb weight loss. Which seems to be my average weight loss (I am sure Tim has a more scientific term for it!) but for now I will call it the AWL (pronounced ALL). So when you say you are going for your AWL, you are going for your ALL!

Okay, corney. But why not?

Today was a bit for difficult. Started out great. Good breakfast, good lunch, good dinner. But, I got a bit upset when I saw that a competitor at my day job, once again, got a jump on me in the world of marketing. No details here, but I decided to say F--- it and have some Egg Nog.

And a Cafe Mocha.

And a cookie.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Two fried eggs and a small piece of tri-tip.

Lunch:
2 BBQ Chicken legs, steamed broccoli, hard boiled egg, and a whole avocado.

Dinner:
Sauteed shrimp, stir fry veggies and some leftover General's chicken, seasoned with Tamari soy, and glass of red wine.

Dessert:
Cookie and a Cafe Mocha.

Day 22... A New Year and a New 4-Hour Body Beginning

Morning Weigh-In: 248 lbs
Total Loss: 4 lbs
Change From Yesterday: +2 lbs

Wow... a way of starting the new year. Only 4 lbs difference from 21 days ago. That's what happens when you lose will power during the holidays. Lots of sweets and treats and good food, and all that weight is... gained back.

Kind of sucks. But, I have not lost the commitment I have to The 4-Hour Body.

So today was better. Back on track, really.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Two eggs, one of egg whites, scrambled hard with turkey pieces in it.

Lunch:
2 BBQ Chicken legs, steamed broccoli, mashed cauliflower, and brussell sprouts.

Dinner:
2 BBQ Chicken legs, small piece pan fried tri-tip, stir fried veggies with shrimp, flavored with Tamari soy sauce.

Dessert:
Glass of red wine, and a sliced tomato with sea salt.

Day 21... Cheat day amongst cheat days

Morning Weigh-In: 246 lbs
Total Loss: 6 lbs
Change From Yesterday: +2 lbs

So today is Sunday, and my standard cheat day... NOW, even though I've been cheating for the past several days, if not all last week, I am using this day as an excuse to do it the way I used to.

The food was good, but by the end of the day I felt stuffed. Which is good. It reminds me that I can go without eating as much as I have been.

But still, it was a good day of enjoying that which I just don't need.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal from Trader Joes.

Lunch:
Wendy's double cheeseburger, baked potato with sour cream and chives, large chili with cheese and onions, and a small Coke.

Dinner:
General's chicken from Whole Foods, paired with chicken chow mein from Raleys. Yes, supermarket Chinese food and a couple veggie spring rolls.

Dessert:
Chocolate kisses and egg nog.

Day 20... Happy 4-Hour Body New Years!

Morning Weigh-In: 244 lbs
Total Loss: 8 lbs
Change From Yesterday: +2 lbs

Happy New Years! Yes, it is 2011 and I know millions of Americans are making resolutions... deciding how to change for 2011.

And I know thousands must be building their list of goals around the revelations found in The 4-Hour Body!

I am not a big believer in resolutions. I am, however, a big believer in setting goals with benchmarks. If the benchmarks happen to be based on dates, so be it. Goals are a great way to achieve... to actually accomplish.

The Meals...

Breakfast:
Steak and Fried Eggs, peanut butter on sourdough roll.

Lunch:
Corn potage soup and sourdough bread.

Snacks: Cinnamon bread and cranberry scones.

Dinner:
Soft scrambled eggs with mixed veggies, black beans, and pepper jack cheese.

Dessert:
Peppermint taffy, Hershey's kisses.
